TV One apologises over car crash victim

By: Jacob Brown | New Zealand News | Tuesday July 17 2012 18:29

TV One's apologised to the family of a man killed in a triple fatality car crash in Gisborne over the weekend.

It comes after Gisborne police demanded an apology from the broadcaster for an inaccuracy in its report, which claimed the deceased driver Dylan Kingi had been to jail for aggravated robbery.

TVNZ spokesperson Megan Richards says they've been in touch with the family, and the chief executive has also made a personal apology.

She says the company is deeply sorry for the error.

The broadcaster is also airing an apology during the 6pm news.
