Coroner's inquest into cat handler's death begins

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Monday October 1 2012 8:29

A coroner's inquest begins today into the death of a big cat handler.

The man known as Dalu Mncube was killed by a tiger while working at Whangarei's Zion Wildlife Gardens.

Northland coroner Brandt Shortland says the man's real identity will also form part of the five-day inquest.

The Zimbabwe-born animal handler was known by at least three other names and Immigration New Zealand believes it's highly likely he entered the country using a false passport.

Zion Wildlife Gardens was featured in the popular TV series The Lion Man.
