Ryall demands Labour clarify their position

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Thursday August 2 2012 1:23

The Government's demanding the Labour Party say where it stands on Maori water rights.

With Labour levelling political criticism at the Government on the issue, State Owned Enterprises Minister Tony Ryall is demanding his opponents clarify their position.

"The key question that needs to be answered in this house is does Labour support the Maori Council claim on ownership of water. Yes or no?"

It comes as the Waitangi Tribunal considers an urgent application from the Maori Council on the issue and has asked the Government to delay partial asset sales while it reaches a decision.
