Closing arguments beginning in Ranger trial

By: Dana Kinita | New Zealand News | Wednesday August 15 2012 13:58

All evidence has been submitted in the trial of former All Black Rene Ranger.

The Blues winger is in the Whangarei District Court charged with injuring with intent to injure after a man was left unconscious outside the Mangawhai Tavern in 2009.

Northland Rugby player Ross Wright was the last to testify reiterating that Ranger was fending off a tackle from complainant Jason Dick.

Prosecution witnesses say Ranger had threatened Mr Dick before punching and kicking him in the head.

Closing arguments for the Crown and defence will begin this afternoon.
