Floodwaters cut off residents in Marlborough

By: Joya Devine | New Zealand News | Wednesday August 1 2012 17:16

The residents of Tyntersfield Road in Marlborough's Waihopai Valley remain cut off by floodwaters this evening following 24 hours of steady rain which has closed the road.

A dozen other roads have been closed during the past 24 hours although some are now reopening.

Marlborough District Council spokesman Mark Wheeler says river levels in the region are starting to recede as the rain eases.

But he says they will be keeping a close watch on the Omaka River catchment tonight which is running higher than usual.
