Geese clubbing 'barbaric'

By: Annabel Reid | New Zealand News | Friday February 17 2012 5:58

The clubbing to death of 12,000 Canada Geese is being labelled "barbaric".

The birds were culled under a DOC funded operation in Canterbury after breeding out of control.

Bird Rescue Trust manager Lyn MacDonald is bewildered the geese had to be killed in such a way.

She says there are more humane ways to deal with the problem, like having vets put the birds down.
