Drug detection agency calls for regular testing

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Friday May 11 2012 14:53

The head of the New Zealand Drug Detection Agency says all transport workers should be drug testing regularly.

The issue's surfaced after two accident investigation reports this week showing both the pilot of the Carterton balloon crash, and the jump masters in the Fox Glacier plane crash, had taken cannabis.

But Kirk Hardy says testing shouldn't be confined to just the adventure tourism industry.

He says anywhere where there's risk of life, including truck drivers and bus drivers, should be tested.
