Building comes down in seconds

By: Tyler Adams | New Zealand News | Sunday August 5 2012 8:51

A pile of rubble about seven metres high is all that remains of Christchurch's Radio Network House.

Hundreds gathered to watch the former home of Newstalk ZB be brought down in less than eight seconds.

There was a series of loud booms and a moment of stillness before the 14 storey building came smashing down on it's side.

The gathering of contractors and media were coated in light debris, as a huge dust cloud dispersed within about a minute.

A huge pile of rubble about a storey high is all that remains, and contractors will work over the next few weeks to clear that out.
