Fonterra's decision to widen its Milk in Schools programme has pleased the Children's Commissioner.
The programme, which was trialled in Northland last year, will begin rolling out in Southland in mid-April.
Russell Wills says Fonterra deserves a pat on the back.
He says it shows that successful businesses are part of their communities too.
He's pleased that more than 50 percent of primary schools have registered their interest for the daily packs of milk for students.
