Bain's legal aid bill tops $3m

By: Annabel Reid | New Zealand News | Saturday April 28 2012 7:35

The legal aid bill for David Bain's freedom has topped $3 million.

The Ministry of Justice has released the final figure, the most spent on any individual in New Zealand history.

The New Zealand Herald reports the High Court retrial in 2009 was the most expensive, costing just over $2 million.

The money was spent on lawyers, investigators, DNA and other forensic tests, and living costs for legal representatives.
