Family cat put down by mistake

| New Zealand News | Sunday May 27 2012 8:34

A family cat has been put down by mistake by a vet in Wellington.

It happened when the vet accidentally took the wrong animal out of a cage at CareVets in Johnsonville.

A couple had taken their cat in with a sore eye after it had a fight with a neighbour's cat.

When they went to pick up the seven-year-old moggy, they were instead presented with its ashes.

A complaint as now been laid with the Veterinary Council.

The clinic has apologised and paid for a new pet, and it now puts named collars on every animal coming in.
