Police identify man who killed hunter

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Tuesday April 10 2012 12:27

Wairarapa police have identified the man who fatally shot an Auckland hunter over the weekend.

However they have yet to decide whether charges will be laid over the death of Alexander "Cam" McDonald.

Alexander McDonald was killed while hunting with friends in Aorangi National Park on Saturday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Hansen says the shots were fired by a Wellington man who was part of another group hunting in the same area as Mr McDonald.

Sergeant Hansen says police will be seeking legal advice before laying any charges over the incident.

The process is expected to take several weeks.
