A Marmite update.

Sanitarium's Christchurch factory is almost up and running but it'll be a while before Marmite hits our shelves.

The company won't set a date, but says it's close to restarting the production lines.

The Christchurch production facility's in the final stages of its rebuild with just interior work to be completed.

Sanitarium's general manager Pierre van Heerden says throughout the next two months they'll move to the repair and recommissioning of the Marmite production line.

He says it'll take some time to replenish stocks enough to get the product back on the supermarket shelves.
