Police have released the name of the man whose body was found in a Napier house.
66-year-old James Elliott lived alone and was last seen alive by friends on Sunday afternoon, before he was found by a family member yesterday morning.
Provisional post mortem results indicate Mr Elliott died as a result of head injuries, but at this stage police can't confirm whether his death is suspicious.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dave de Lange says CIB and ESR staff are conducting a full scene examination of Mr Elliott's house to try to establish the circumstances that led to his death.
