Milk powder manufacturer's ad breaks cabinet rules

By: Jacob Brown | New Zealand News | Monday August 27 2012 10:11

A milk powder manufacturer's being given a slap on the wrist after making an ad which shows the Prime Minister appearing to endorse one of its products.

It follows John Key's recent trip to the Cowala milk powder factory.

The advertisement has been altered to show Mr Key holding a baby formula canister, grinning, and the slogan 'here it is' plastered behind him.

John Key says that's against cabinet rules.

"People can take photos with me and I'm more than happy to take photos when I go and open things, but technically speaking I can't promote a product."
