The Lower Hutt City Council's a step closer to getting an extra tool to deal to graffiti. Parliament's passed the second reading of bill that would give council staff greater scope to remove graffiti from private properties. Labour's Hutt South MP Trevor Mallard says it'll solve the problem of dealing with graffitied properties where the owners are absent, or can't be contacted. He says the law change doesn't give the council total power to remove graffiti, if property owners want it to remain then council staff won't be able to remove it. |
