Infected internet servers to be shut down

By: Siobhan Leathley | New Zealand News | Friday July 6 2012 15:29

Over a thousand New Zealanders risk losing their internet access on Monday.

All servers infected with the virus, DNSCharger, will be shut-down at 4am by the FBI.

Internet NZ Chief Executive, Vikram Kumar, warns many people will be unaware their computer is infected.

"People could've just been doing something completely innocent, hadn't actually clicked on a link, simply gone to a website. It would've been sufficient to have infected them."

People can visit www.dns-ok.org.nz to see if their computer is infected.
