Privacy Commissioner looks to prevent future breaches

The Privacy Commissioner is looking at writing to all public sector CEOs to see what's been put in place to avoid further security breaches.

It comes after EQC's admission on Friday that information on almost 10,000 Christchurch households was sent to a third party.

Privacy Commissioner Marie Shroff says although the breach was quickly contained, she doesn't blame the public if they're slightly uncertain over their privacy.

She expects some residents to complain to the commission once they're told their information was sent.
