Investigation into Baby Blacks player dropped

By: Lawrence Hakiwai | New Zealand News | Friday September 28 2012 17:49

South African police have dropped their investigation into an allegation of rape against a New Zealand Under 20 rugby player.

The accusation against Nathan Harris followed the team's participation in the Under-20 World Cup.

A woman told police she had been raped in the Southern Sun Hotel Newlands in Cape Town.

The New Zealand Rugby Union says it's been advised that after investigating the claim, South African police will not be prosecuting.

Harris says he's obviously pleased and relieved to have been cleared.

He now wants to put the matter behind him.
