IRD website back up and running

By: Natasha Burling | New Zealand News | Monday May 7 2012 15:39

Businesses who couldn't get their GST returns in today because of the IRD's website going down won't be penalised.

Inland Revenue's website was out of action for around three hours today but is now up-and-running again.

Acting commissioner Martin Smith says the website went down because of an error in the system settings.

He says if customers haven't been able to meet their filing obligations, they should file as soon as possible.

Mr Smith says the IRD wants to reassure them they won't be disadvantaged by something beyond their control.
