Warning over scalped Super Rugby tickets

By: Jacqui Stanford | New Zealand News | Saturday August 4 2012 18:54

Anyone who turns up to the Super Rugby final in Hamilton tonight with a ticket they bought on Trade Me is in for a shock.

TicketDirect is vowing to crack down on scalping, after sought-after tickets to the sold out clash between the Chiefs and the Sharks were flogged off online for double their value.

TicketDirect Chief Executive Matthew Davey says under the terms and conditions of the tickets, anyone who bought them agreed that their tickets will be void if they were on-sold at an inflated price.

He says the scalped tickets will be confiscated and their holders will not be allowed into the game.

Mr Davey adds it's a real shame to see the blatant greed of some, and the profiteering at the expense of real fans.

He says having the Major Events Act in play for Super Rugby would help eliminate this practice once and for all.
