Another company closure means more job losses

| New Zealand News | Thursday July 12 2012 12:14

Fifty-five jobs have been lost in Petone with another company closing its doors.

Goulds Fine Foods closed suddenly yesterday.

It's told the union representing its workers that it's in the process of appointing a receiver.

EPMU organiser Kim Ellis says the closure has come as a shock to workers - some have been working at the company for 40 years.

She says the management at Goulds appears to have been overly optimistic that it could get itself out of difficulties it was facing, but that hasn't been the case, and workers have paid the price.
