110 Chinese approved to work in NZ

| New Zealand News | Friday July 27 2012 14:54

Immigration New Zealand has approved an application for 110 Chinese workers to work here in a labouring job.

King Facade will hire the workers to install facades.

Labour MP Darien Fenton says that's outrageous at a time when there are thousands of Kiwis desperate to get into training and work.

She believes the employer talked up the job requirements, saying it needs three years experience and the immigration department hasn't even questioned it.

"It's basically sticking things on construction sites - so it's installing some windows, installing cladding, that sort of job. Insiders in the industry tell me it's basically a labourer's job."
