There's a new agreement which aims to create closer business links and promote bilateral investment between Auckland and Beijing. Auckland Tourism chief Brett O' Riley has signed a Statement of Co-operation with his opposite number from Beijing. Mayor Len Brown says it's a direct outcome of the Council's recent trade mission to China. "What we're finding is an interest from China in New Zealand intellectual property and capability and partnering with New Zealand firms, so my view is Chinese investment represents smart capital."
