Safety officials have successfully sought a tougher sentence over the death of an aircraft engineer sucked into an jet engine at Woodbourne Airfield near Blenheim. Safe Air was originally ordered to pay a fine of $56,250 and reparation of $22,250. But the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment argues that isn't enough for what was a serious safety failure by the company. A High Court judge agrees - and has increased the fine by $13,750. Photo: stock.xchng |
