Dotcom in tears as personal data revelations come out

The chief High Court judge wants to know who authorised the release of Kim Dotcom's data to the United States.

Kim Dotcom has wiped away tears and left court after hearing copies of his personal data has been taken overseas without his knowledge.

Today the court has heard some duplicates of the 135 digital devices have been sent to US authorities.

Dotcom's lawyer Paul Davison QC has read out correspondence between himself and the Crown Law Office stating the material would not be sent without Dotcom's knowledge.

Mr Davison says his client's position has been totally disregarded. He says seizure of data without leaving a copy for Dotcom, is another example of the heavy-handed and excessive use of force on his client.

Though he says some duplicates of the data were made and taken out of New Zealand, Dotcom still doesn't have access to it.

Dotcom then wiped tears away and left the court for a brief period.

The Judge has asked the Crown to provide evidence that the data was allowed out of the country.
