Hart tells judge property sold at 'fire sale price'

By: Laura Heathcote | New Zealand News | Monday October 15 2012 15:59

Disgraced defence lawyer Barry Hart has told a High Court judge ANZ bank has sold his property at a fire sale price.

Mr Hart is in court today fighting to retain ownership of the last of his 10 properties.

He's alleging the bank hasn't followed due process for mortgagee sales of the properties.

He says the 750 hectare principal property was valued at $29 million but sold for only $8 million.

ANZ bank wants to sell it to help regain a $30 million loan and its lawyer says every attempt was made to get the best price.

Barry Hart was last month struck off as a lawyer for overcharging his clients.
