Canterbury students are holding their annual tea party to celebrate the end of lectures, but it seems their cups are filled with something a little stronger.
At least 40 students have been arrested, and most are charged with breaching the city's liquor ban.
Senior Sergeant Peter Laloli says it's disappointing.
"The Students' Association have put it out through their networks, made it pretty obvious that there was a liquor ban, and that they supported the police and the actions they'd taken, reminded them about their obligations and that there was a liquor ban, and that they would support any actions the police had taken."
Senior Sergeant Peter Laloli says police visited several houses today, to remind students about the ban.
