Officials confirm visa for Mike Tyson

By: AAP | New Zealand News | Saturday September 29 2012 15:22

New Zealand officials say former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has been granted a visa to enter the country.

Tyson, who has been convicted and jailed for rape, is planning to visit Auckland in November as part of a motivational roadshow.

New Zealand immigration laws stipulate that no one who has been sentenced to five years or more in prison can be given a visa.

Tyson was sentenced to six years in prison in 1992 for raping a 18-year-old woman in the US.
