TradeMe is taking another step in expanding its vehicle sales service. It's bought AutoBase, a website which displays everything from cars to caravans for sale and the associated dealers. In 2005 it bought just over quarter of the aggregator and now is the outright owner. Since 2003 both businesses have had an arrangement where AutoBase procures vehicle listings from dealers and TradeMe displays them. TradeMe CEO Jon Macdonald says acquiring the assets was a logical move. He says the acquisition will allow the website to have direct relationships with dealers. |
