There's criticism two witnesses in the Iraena Asher inquest didn't get the right of reply. Coroner Peter Ryan has ruled the failure of Julia Woodhouse and Bobbie Carroll to call police contributed to Ms Asher's accidental drowning at Piha Beach. The couple took Iraena Asher into their home hours before she disappeared. Barry Wilson, President of the Auckland Council for Civil Liberties, says given the Coroner's finding, Julia Woodhouse and Bobbie Carroll should have been informed of this ruling before it was made public. "If that finding was to be made, then they wanted a lawyer who could put their point of view," he says. |
