Mahy remembered by hundreds

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Wednesday August 1 2012 17:13

The life and writing of Margaret Mahy has been remembered by hundreds in Christchurch this afternoon.

The 76-year-old passed away last Monday after a short battle with cancer.

The public memorial service at Hagley Park's Geodome has wrapped up, with around 500 people hearing from speakers including fellow writer Tessa Duder, her grandchildren, her editor of ten years and colleagues.

Ms Duder described the children's writer as a magical inspiration.
