Teen sailor wants to compete for NZ

| New Zealand News | Monday September 3 2012 8:44

There's a new goal for Laura Dekker.

In what turned out to be a race against bad weather, the 16-year-old sailed into Whangarei last night.

Having already become the youngest person to sail around the world solo, she now wants to sail for New Zealand at the Olympics.

She was born on her parents' yacht in Whangarei but was raised in the Netherlands.

Laura Dekker plans on finishing her schooling in Northland.
