Treasury underlining ambitious reforms

By: Lesley Deverall | Latest National News | Thursday February 2 2012 12:32

Treasury is underlining the need for ambitious reforms in education, welfare and tax .

The advice is in briefing papers released to Finance Minister Bill English today.

It says to build greater economic resilience, a "wide and ambitious" programme of reform is needed.

They include targeting tertiary funding to younger students and higher level qualifications, and further reducing personal and company tax.

Treasury is also calling for reforms in resource management, the minimum wage, the housing supply and local government.
