Prime Minister John Key will be officially welcomed on to Te Tii Marae this morning.
He'll be called on to the lower marae at just before 10 am.
Mr Key is expected to be greeted by protestors, angry about a possible omission of the Treaty clause in state owned asset sell downs.
Waitangi locals have told Newstalk ZB the Prime Minister should expect a noisy reception.
Once he's on the lower marae, Mr Key will make his way across Waitangi Bridge to the Treaty grounds.
A contingent of Green Party members will also be at waitangi.
Co-leaders Metiria hopes the weekend will be free from aggression, and one where Maori and Pakeha are standing side-by-side.
But she says it won't happen until the Government stops attacking Maori, and becomes interested in equal talks instead.
