Salvage work on Rena's bow to begin

By: AAP | New Zealand News | Saturday August 4 2012 5:14

Salvage work on the bow section of the shipwrecked Rena off New Zealand is due to start today.

The cargo ship made headlines when it ran aground on the Astrolabe reef off Tauranga in October last year, with pictures of it spilling oil and cargo into the sea featuring in news around the world.

The accident became New Zealand's worst maritime environmental disaster.

While the new US salvors say work will start today, they won't release more details because of a confidentiality agreement with the ship's owners.
