Law Commission to put cyber-bullying under review

| New Zealand News | Saturday May 12 2012 10:35

The Justice Minister is asking the Law Commission to fast-track its recommendations to reduce cyber-bullying.

Judith Collins says the Government is extremely concerned about the growing number of cases and the devastating effect it can have on young people.

The Law Commission will consider a new offence of maliciously impersonating another person on the Internet, and extending anti-harassment, misuse of the phone and Human Rights laws to include cyber bullying.

The Commission is also investigating whether â incitement to suicideâ should be a criminal offence regardless of whether a person actually commits suicide.
