There's been a huge leap in the number of people seeking budgeting help. More than 55,000 people sought help from the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services in the past year. That's up from 42,000 the previous year. Chief executive Raewyn Fox says it's left them stretched. "The people that are coming to see us have an average debt of around $5000 each, of which, about $2000 of that will be in arrears when they first come to see us." Photo: NZ Herald |
