Wairoa's Affco meatworkers will be back at work tomorrow after ratifying an agreement that's ended a 12-week industrial dispute. The New Zealand Meat Workers Union and Affco reached an agreement on a new collective employment contract last week, but local union members ratified it today. Wairoa meatworker John Hubbard says around 200 people, including workers, supporters and local iwi were at the meeting. "We sacrificed in order to get our people back to work and like I said, in going forward Talley's wants to build a new relationship with our workers so we're taking him for his word I suppose." Mr Hubbard says he wants to thank everyone who helped workers get through the tough time. |
