Bain's finances shouldn't affect hearing location

Lawyers for Judith Collins say David Bain's financial situation should have no bearing on where his case against the Justice Minister is heard.

Mr Bain's seeking a judicial review into the way the Minister handled his compensation claim and lawyers are arguing over where the case is heard.

Michael Reed QC says Mr Bain wants the case in Auckland to minimise costs and has called the Crown vindictive for trying to have it in Wellington.

Crown lawyer Kristy McDonald QC says David Bain isn't special, and shouldn't get special treatment.

The judge has reserved his decision.
