One of the New Zealand soldiers injured in an ambush by insurgents in Afghanistan has issued a statement.
Major Craig Wilson was shot in the shoulder and received multiple wounds to his lungs, ribs, collarbone, shoulder bone, as well as artery and tissue damage in the incident in northeast Bamyan Province.
Major Wilson says he and his fellow five injured soldiers are pleased with the way Lance Corporals Pralli Durrer and Rory Malone were farewelled.
He says their thoughts are with the families of their fallen comrades.
Major Wilson has thanked his fellow soldiers, the New Zealand Defence Force and coalition troops for their support.
