The Motor Trade Association is calling on the Government to include in service emission testing as part of its Vehicle Licensing Reform review. It comes after a new report into the effects of health and air pollution shows emissions from vehicles are responsible for more than 250 premature deaths in New Zealand each year. MTA spokesman Ian Stronach says testing for emissions is easy enough to do, and already done in other countries. "Could be included as part of a WOF, could be done yearly somewhere else they're existing regime in most other what I call civilised countries. I'm sure we could find something that fitted in New Zealand." Photo: stock. xchnge |
