The hunt is now on for who is involved in the student visa fraud involving almost 250 people from China. Immigration New Zealand general manager Peter Elms says speculation that VFS Global Services in China is involved is completely wrong. Peter Elms emphasises the company is contracted by Immigration New Zealand to lodge and receive visa applications in China, but plays absolutely no part in deciding applications. He says only Immigration New Zealand staff can make decisions on visa applications. Five people who came to New Zealand on student visas obtained by fraud have been found and are now in custody awaiting deportation. Mr Elms says last night a further eight students were found at a property in Blenheim and served with Deportation Liability Notices. Photo: stock.xchng |
