Scrub fire near Whangarei Heads

By: Anna Cross | New Zealand News | Sunday April 15 2012 11:55

A scrub fire in Northland has been brought under control.

The Fire Service was called to the blaze at Pataua South, near Whangarei Heads just before 11 this morning.

But because the area is difficult to access, a helicopter using a monsoon bucket is helping to put the fire out.

Locals believe it may have been started by flares being set off.
