There's a renewed call for the Government to make up its mind about the future of the Napier to Gisborne railway line. The storm-damaged line has been closed for six months and repairs are expected to cost close to $4 million. Hawkeâ s Bay Regional Transport Committee Chairman Alan Dick says freight season is approaching and businesses dependent on the line need to know if the line won't be reinstated. "It means the difference between having a strategic transport network with mobile choices, or being stuck with one very secondary state highway." Mr Dick has written to Transport Minister Gerry Brownlee, requesting he provides the region with an answer. Photo: stock.xchng |
