Get ready - a week of rain is on the way.

It will be wet and windy over much of the country from today.

Philip Duncan from WeatherWatch.co.nz says both islands will be hit.

The Met Service has issued a watch for Nelson, Fiordland and Southland, with periods of heavy rain possible for these areas late on Sunday into Monday.
