Economists are predicting fluctuating prices at the petrol pump in the months ahead.
ASB's released its Quarterly Economic Forecast and suggests the pressure on oil prices is set to continue.
ASB chief economist Nick Tuffley says though prices dropped at the weekend, when they rise again, it won't necessarily be a bad thing.
"What we also find is that when oil prices go up, that provides incomes to oil producers, particularly in the Middle East. We do tend to see, whenever the oil prices go up, our exports to those countries go up as well."
Mr Tuffley says at the moment, it's a mild negative for New Zealand.
