Petrol prices may go down

By: Blair Cunningham | New Zealand News | Saturday April 14 2012 10:34

Petrol prices could be on the move, with the price of oil continuing to slide.

Brent Crude is now sitting at 121 US dollars a barrel.

The AA's Mark Stockdale says there's no reason not to expect a drop in the price at the pump.

"A drop in the price of oil will inevitably flow through to a lower prices at the pump, provided the exchange rate remains stable. It's got to be good news for motorists."

He says coupons and loyalty programmes do help motorists save money, but they can be expensive for oil companies.

"Those loyalty programmes, there is a cost to the fuel company, but how much that is we don't know."

Mark Stockdale hopes to see lower prices in the next few days.
