A new report says intellectually disabled people are being detained in mental health units when they shouldn't be.

The finding's part of an official monitoring report on the country's detention facilities

According to the report, inspectors found a case where an intellectually disabled person was being detained under the Mental Health Act when they should have been in specialist care.

Investigations show a lack of inpatient beds mean intellectually disabled people are being inappropriately admitted to mental health units.
