Police seek public help after fatal accident

By: Sophia Duckor-Jones | New Zealand News | Thursday February 28 2013 10:46

Police are seeking more help from the public, as they work to determine the cause of a fatal accident at Whatawhata earlier this month.

Acting Senior Sergeant Paul Scoble says they understand a Nissan Bluebird car had crossed the centre line, colliding with an oncoming Suzuki.

As a result, the 18-year-old passenger in the Suzuki, Shayna Kumitau died four days later in Auckland Hospital.

Mr Scoble says the car that crossed the centre line was on its way to Hamilton when the crash occurred.

He says police are keen to speak to motorists who may have seen any activity leading up to the crash, in particular anyone who noticed anything unusual in the driving of the Nissan.
